What It Is
TURNING EVERY MOVE INTO MEANING
A real estate experience built on purpose, impact, and giving back.
At Butterfly Effect Realty, we believe buying or selling a home should feel like more than just a transaction—it should feel like you’re part of something bigger. Homes with Heart is our way of making that possible. It’s a simple but meaningful commitment to give back with every closing, allowing each move to create a positive impact in our community. Because to us, it’s not just about where you’re going—it’s about what your move can do along the way.
How It Works
SIMPLE. INTENTIONAL. IMPACTFUL.
Giving back is seamlessly built into every transaction.
Giving back is something we’ve built into every step of what we do. With every home we help buy or sell, we donate $1,000—$500 to the NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to support local mental health resources, and $500 to a nonprofit of your choice.
There’s nothing extra you need to do—it’s simply part of working with us. It’s our way of making sure that every move not only supports your next chapter, but also creates a meaningful impact for someone else along the way.
Why It Matters
BECAUSE IT'S BIGGER THAN REAL ESTATE
Creating change, supporting mental health, and making every move count.
Mental health is something that touches all of us—whether personally or through the people we love. We’ve seen how important it is to have access to support, resources, and a community that understands. We’ve also seen how hard it can be to find that support when it’s needed most.
That’s why this initiative exists. It’s about raising awareness, reducing stigma, and helping ensure that more people have access to the care and connection they deserve. It’s also about empowering our clients to be part of something bigger—creating a ripple effect of impact that extends far beyond real estate.
Karie's Why.
GUIDED BY HEART
Inspired by personal experience, grounded in empathy, and committed to making a difference.
I grew up with a mom who struggled with Bipolar I Disorder. Back in the late 1980s, mental illness wasn't widely understood. We didn't have a name for what was happening—we just knew that at times, she wasn't herself anymore. It was confusing, overwhelming, and incredibly difficult to make sense of as a child.
Over time, we became isolated from family and friends because others didn't understand either. It felt like we were the "black sheep", and that brought a lot of confusion, heartache, and loneliness.
Through it all, my dad stood by my mom and our family. I will always be grateful for that. I know it wasn't easy for him to hold everything together.
My mom struggled with her mental health her entire life and passed away far too early from cancer at the age of 52.
Unfortunately, my journey didn't end there.
My loving, amazing son has been battling mental illness since the age of 13. It has been a completely different kind of journey—and at times, incredibly frightening. Today, I'm grateful to say he is on a plan that is working well for him. I know this is a long journey, and I will be there every step of the way.
About NAMI Minnesota

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Through education, advocacy, and support, NAMI works to ensure that no one has to navigate mental health challenges alone. Their mission is rooted in building a more compassionate, informed, and supportive community for those impacted by mental health conditions.
At the local level, organizations like NAMI Minnesota provide critical resources right here in our community. They offer free support groups, educational programs, and advocacy efforts that empower individuals and families with knowledge, connection, and hope. From helping someone better understand a diagnosis to providing a safe space to share experiences, NAMI Minnesota plays a vital role in breaking down barriers and making mental health support more accessible.
What makes NAMI especially impactful is their commitment to both immediate support and long-term change. They work not only to support individuals and families in real time, but also to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and advocate for better mental health policies and systems. Through their work, more people are able to access care, feel understood, and find the support they need to move forward.
